11:50 PM...............................................................................
Here's an email sent to me. From my dear school :)
For your infor, i'm not happy.
Dear Students,
I understand that some of you are not able to get enough modules for this semester under Round 1C and you are getting anxious.
The BBA Program Office is working with the departments to admit more students into modules offered by their respective departments. ( oh, so you guys realized that there are not enough vacancies for every student?) In the meantime, we would like to encourage you to do the following:
(1) The School has reserved quotas for level 1000 foundation modules for new students. This reservation (or "protection") is till Round 2B. Hence, please do consider and bid for the following modules by Round 2B, after which the "protected" quotas will be freed up for all students, including non-business students to bid.
(a) MNO1001 Management and Organization
(b) MKT1003 Principles of Marketing
(c ) IT1801 Programming for Business
Please note that many past year students were able to cope with MNO1001 and MKT1003 in the same semester. (the seniors told us otherwise) If you have avoided bidding for these two modules together under Rounds 1C and 2A earlier, do try to go for the other one in Round 2B. (orh, so now the students are paying cause of your mistakes)
(2) You can also try to register for at least one University-Level Requirement module (or two, if you are interested) in this semester. It is beneficial to take a balance of business and non-business modules in each semester. Students may take a combination of business and non-business modules in any semester. (It is not true that you must take at least 4 business modules in any semester.). Please do consider any University-Level Requirement modules (i.e. Singapore Studies Modules, General Education Modules and Breadth Modules offered by other faculties) that you do have sufficient points to bid for before Round 3A starts.
(3) As all quotas resereved for new students are freed up in Round 3, please also look out for university level requirement modules that you have sufficient points to bid for from Round 3A onwards.
As mentioned above, we are working with the departments closely on this matter. If you still need assistance after the online module registration ends on 16 August 2006, please submit to us (attention Wang Kim Fong, Irene Low or Karen Lam in the BBA Office or via email bizwkf@nus.edu.sg) the following information from 9 am to 5 pm on 17 August 2006:
(a) List the modules that you have already bidded for successfully.
(b) List the various alternative business modules that you wish to appeal for in sequence of priority, and indicate how many modules you wish to appeal for.
(c) For modules with more than one lecture group, please indicate the lecture group number.
We will try to accommodate your requests under your appeal on 17 August as far as we can by opening more spaces for some modules. (We are not opening up more such spaces in Round 3 as they will then be open to students from other faculties as well). Meanwhile, for all the modules you are going to appeal on 17 August, do attend the lectures and get the lecture notes with the help of your friends; but please do not buy the textbooks yet.
For some of the modules which have limited numbers this semester (for example BSP1004 Legal Environment of Business), the plan all along has been to offer more spaces next semester due to staff's timetable. So if you fail to get these modules, do not get too anxious.
The bottom line is we will ensure all the places for the Foundation modules without prerequisites will add up to over 625 across the two semesters, so there will be sufficient places for all of you. We will have to sort out the structural inefficiencies in the meantime.
I hope all of you still have a smile on your face.
If not come find me, I buy you ice cream.
Regards
