In fact, it isn't the first time I've came across this term. I think Mind your Body carried an article on this a few weeks back.
Apparently, the greatests target of our schadenfreude are the people around us because we view them as threat of competition.
And all this stems from our own insecurity.
Hmm.
How very interesting.
